Like Ondel-Ondel Betawi in Indonesia, The Higantes isn't just a festival with parading 12-foot paper-mache giants. It's a colossal party on its own! Events include fun runs, job fairs, dance contest, cook-offs, and art exhibits. And of course, lots and lots of karaoke!
17. Hot Air Balloon Festival, Clark, Pampanga
Even hot air balloons are more fun here! Come during February to catch the festival. Pampanga is also one of the country's food capitals. Their cuisine has impressed tourist from all over, including the world's renegade chef, Anthony Bourdain.
18. Mount Pinatubo, Zambales
The lahar that once flowed down Pinatubo's slopes now forms a gorgeous landscape around the volcano. You can take a two-day trek crater with an Aeta guide, or rent an SUV and spend the afternoon relaxing in crater lake.
19. Sagada, Mountain Province
The mountain town is quite possibly the coolset place in the Philippines. Backpackers come for trekking, caving, and seeing centuries-old coffins hanging from a cliff face. City people come to beat the heat.
